Brendan Merry & Partners are pleased to announce their appointment as Quantity Surveyor on four projects under the SEAI Local Authority Energy Pathfinder Programme. BMP is working as part of integrated design teams led by M&E consultants IN2.
The Pathfinder Programme is a national initiative jointly delivered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and Local Authorities to deliver deep energy retrofit and decarbonisation works to public buildings across Ireland. The programme targets a 51% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 50% improvement in energy efficiency across the public sector by 2030, with a pathway to net-zero by 2050. Works focus on building fabric improvements, ventilation upgrades, HVAC systems, lighting efficiency, and the introduction of renewable heat sources.
BMP has been appointed on four separate county council projects:
- Offaly County Council — Energy upgrade works to Áras an Chontae and Tullamore Leisure Centre, with a combined notional capital value of approximately €2.8m.
- Laois County Council — Energy retrofit works to Portlaoise Leisure Centre, Portarlington Leisure Centre, and Laois County Hall, with a combined notional capital value of approximately €2.9m.
- Monaghan County Council — Energy improvement works to Monaghan Leisure Centre, Clones Library, and Carrickmacross Civic Offices, with a combined notional capital value of approximately €840,000.
- Westmeath County Council — Energy retrofit works to Athlone Regional Sports Centre, Áras an Chontae Mullingar, and Athlone Civic Offices, with a combined notional capital value of approximately €2.5m.
BMP’s role across all four appointments encompasses full quantity surveying and cost management services from Stage 1 feasibility through to Stage 5 construction completion and final account, including cost planning, tender documentation, interim valuations, and post-contract administration.
We look forward to working with IN2 and the wider project teams in delivering these important public sector energy efficiency projects.
