Description

The Client, the Irish Heritage Trust, has entered into a partnership with Poetry Ireland and the Irish Landmark Trust to bring No.11 Parnell Square to life as a poetry centre, cultural hub and head quarters for the three organisations . The intent of this project is to revitalise this important Georgian house and to return it to full use as a significant part of the Parnell Square Cultural Quarter.

Dating to the 1750s, the building was used by Dublin County Council and later Fingal County Council from 1901 until the 1970’s. On completion of these works, No. 11 Parnell Square will become a key contributor to the cultural renaissance of Dublin’s North Inner City. At the core of the No. 11 building will be The Seamus Heaney Poetry Library encompassing the late Laureate’s private library, bequeathed by his family to Poetry Ireland.
