Brendan Merry & Partners were delighted to be involved in the successful delivery of the New Surgical Hub at Mount Carmel Hospital. Governed by St James’s Hospital this innovative facility features two minor and two major theatres and is set to preform 10,000 day-case procedures annually, significantly improving access to elective care in the South Dublin region.
This is the first of six HSE Surgical Hubs and forms an integral part of Ireland’s national strategy to enhance healthcare delivery but also sets a remarkable standard for innovation. Thanks to the expertise in St James’s Hospital, the hub was designed with a focus on operational efficiency, it integrates lean principals and is fully digital, ensuring streamlined processes that lead to better patient outcomes.
The Design Team under the direction of Architects Fitzgerald Kavanagh & Partners successfully delivered the project with J.V. Tierney & Partners Consulting Services Engineers and Garland Consultancy providing BCAR compliance. The Main Contractor on the project was Clancy Construction who carefully navigated a difficult Design and Build Contract within the existing hospital building. Brendan Merry & Partners provided Full Quantity Surveying Services and the project was delivered on budget and programme. We wish St. James’s Hospital, Mount Carmel and all the consultants and staff every success in the operation of the new facility.
