BMP are delighted to be working on the development of a new Visitor Hub at Dublin Castle for the Office of Public Works.
Dublin Castle is one of the most important historic sites in Ireland and is of unique importance to any visitor seeking to understand the course of Irish history. Since the arrival of Viking settlers on the site in 841 AD, it has been at the heart of the nation’s story. Dublin Castle today serves as a major government complex and cultural site. It includes several gallery and cultural spaces that host a variety of historical and contemporary exhibitions throughout the year.
Brendan Merry and Partners and the project Design Team (Hall McKnight Architects, Horgan Lynch and OCSC M & E) are currently working in the early stages of this project looking to reconfigure the GF of the State Apartments building to deliver a high-quality visitor experience at Dublin Castle through the provision of a new entrance, visitor reception, café, retail, interpretation, toilets and to provide a greater sense of connection between the Upper Castle Yard through to the south facing terrace overlooking the Dubh Linn Gardens at the lower level.
