Description

This project provides a New Library and Arts Centre and a 220 Seat Auditorium in one building. The Centre is constructed on a prominent riverside site which is complimented by the riverside water boardwalk.

The Arts Centre and Library is bounded on three sides by public roads and on the fourth by the river. This three storey construction over basement car park has a gross floor area of 4,600 sq.m. including fully equipped 220 seat Performing Arts Theatre, Exhibition Area and Library with provision for Community Space. This project incorporated a 1,350sq.m. Public Library which included audio library posts, learning spaces, multimedia self-learning area and local studies area.

Brendan Merry & Partners were involved in this project from inception until completion. This project posed many issues – access to site was difficult and we needed to maintain access to a swimming pool at the rear of the site, ground conditions beside a river, etc. The budget needed to be very carefully monitored as the project was being funded by two independent Clients and we also incorporated the full fit-outs to both the Library and the Arts Centre within our contract
