A vital facility to alleviate the homeless crisis was completed just before Christmas in North County Dublin. The new family hub which is operated by Peter McVerry Trust in partnership with Fingal County Council, will provide short term emergency accommodation for up to 6 homeless families.
This family hub will offer families a safe and secure space and each family will have their own self-contained bedroom and living room units and share kitchen and laundry facilities. There is also a children’s play area to the rear. The hub is an important improvement in the quality of emergency accommodation for homeless families and offer much better-quality accommodation than a hotel or B&B and each family will have a dedicated key worker to help them during their stay.
The existing property was fully refurbished both internally and externally and reconfigured to provide a new layout for the family hub. The design team for the project was led by Colm Redmond & Darragh Beggan from Fitzgerald Kavanagh & Partners and Brendan Merry & Partners were delighted to provide quantity surveying services on this extremely necessary and worthwhile project especially in the run up to Christmas.
